Red Cross Giving Day Success: Home Fire Campaign Install Day in New Britain

On April 21, 2016, the American Red Cross hosted their second annual Giving Day. As part of the day’s festivities, the Red Cross hosted a Home Fire Preparedness Campaign day in the City of New  Britain. The results from the day were outstanding:

Homes Visited – 72

Plans Made – 72

Smoke Alarms installed – 152

That’s 72 families who went to sleep safer on April 21 than they did the night before.

Check out a few photos of our amazing volunteers. Also, a very special thank you to our friends at Duracell who came out to volunteer with us throughout the day!

Red Crosser Jocelyn Hillard reviews a home fire escape plan with New Britain resident Evelyn Chudzik. Evelyn had a very specific reasons for calling the Red Cross: “I’m doing this to protect myself from a fire-I’m petrified of it. I’m helping other people. Maybe they don’t realize how important a fire alarm is.”
